Subject: One Year On and Beyond
Hi Austin,
Good weekend to you and a timely video conversation from your blog, well, for me at least. I think it’s been a year since I was on board and I’d say that it has been an educational, eye-opening and fun ride all the way. Hope it’s even better this year, for me it was more of a learning and “unlearning” phase before I embark on some important goals for me and family.
I have not written much before, perhaps most of what I need to know has been explained in the videos and chat room and I do not want to bother you if I can figure things myself. There was a mention in your video conversation that you would like to touch base with members, and as I am about to move into the next phase of my trading, so I thought it apt to tell you a bit of myself and what my trading goals are and maybe you can comment on my “road map” towards my objectives.
I was stock broker for much of my 18 years. It’s very hard to make a living here as a stock broker and the advent of online trading a few years back has caused many clients to switch away from full-service brokers like myself. In Malaysia, the futures industry is still in its infancy and my only exposure to futures was when I took a course on ER trading from a Singaporean 6 years ago. That did not work out and I then dabbled in a few business ventures that went down the drain during the 2008 meltdown that has significantly set me back financially.
Next year, my daughter will start her university education and this will put more strain on my finances. At my age, going back into employment is hard and I figure the best way for me to earn enough to fund my daughter’s education and to live more comfortably is through trading futures.
After doing much research and checking on the web, I decided on CM as the way forward to a brighter future. I had planned my objectives along the CM Road to Mil$, although not exact replica. I was targeting something around $200k to 300k in one year and adding less contracts each month, starting next month. I will have to manage my risk well and with a small account, I may not have the luxury of pyramiding. I was thinking of only trading the TF, half-day, and probably the 6E, first 3-4 hours of European open due to my time zone. I don’t mind a slow and consistent increase in equity and I will take 15-20 points a month.
Do you think my plan is reasonable? Would appreciate any advice.
Thank you [X]

The above email from one of our valued team members was lightly edited for brevity and personal privacy, but otherwise left verbatim.
Every trader who makes the personal committment joins our team is important to me. I consider my role in the educational side very seriously, and I constantly think of ways it can be improved from all sides of the spectrum. CM Team members matter greatly to me, and my role as team leader is one that demands my utmost effort in every way possible
I’ve found solid footing and equal balance for managing the operational side of managed funds coupled with enhancing the educational side of our on-going efforts. This weekend’s video conversation will detail what the future has to unfold in days and weeks to come.
Trade To Win
